formerly known as the Statewide Public Presentations program
2019 Dates:  June 1-2, 2018
Cornell University, Ithaca, NY

4-H Communication Planning team
Cornell University Communications Department

Participation is open to all youth
4-H Communication Teaching Assistants

General set-up:

The first day will focus on workshops that will be delivered by undergraduate teaching assistants and faculty in Cornell's Department of Communications. There are two workshop tracks in order to develop a persuasive OR informative speech.

The second day each youth delegate will present their modified presentation in no more than 5 minutes. Each youth delegate will be assigned a cohort and they will remain with that group in order to provide peer evaluation. As a part of this competitive process winners will be invited to a state fair invitational and to serve as an Ambassador for the 4-H program from 2019-2020 .

The institute is a learning lab so there will be opportunities for youth delegates to apply their learning directly. There is time in the schedule on Saturday night for youth delegates to continue to refine their presentation using the tools provided in the morning and afternoon workshops. On Sunday youth delegates will present, be evaluated, and obtain both peer and adult feedback.
