2022 NYS 4-H Horse Bowl Competition Results

nys4h4

The New York State 4-H Horse Program welcomed over 75 youth to the Cornell University Campus on Saturday, April 9th, for the 2022 NYS 4-H Horse Bowl Competition. The program was happy to have youth ranging in age from 10 and older attend from each region across the state.

The NYS 4-H Horse Bowl Competition is an educational contest related to equine knowledge and is much like a quiz bowl event. This contest consists of teams of at least four youth, but there can be up to six members on a team, who compete against other teams demonstrating their equine knowledge. Youth who attend the NYS 4-H Horse Bowl Competition are youth who competed and placed in the top placements at their regional contests and have been asked to complete at the state level by their region. 4-H youth who compete at the senior level (ages 14- 18) at the State Horse Bowl contest and place as one of the top four individuals qualify to attend the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup in Kentucky in November. We were so happy to have 10 Junior teams competing at the State Contest and 9 Senior teams. We want to thank all of our volunteers who acted as vet-related judges, horse judges, moderators, scorekeepers, and timekeepers along with the State 4-H Horse Bowl Chair, Ann Janson. Our volunteers are what make our programs run and they are the ones who help make them successful. Without such great volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to host such wonderful events!

Congratulations to all NYS youth who participated! We are looking forward to Horse Bowl
