2023 National 4-H Conference

Dear Colleagues,

I am bursting with energy as our 2023 National 4-H Conference delegation has returned to NYS. I am so proud of our chaperones who provided leadership including Linda Brosch, CCE-Oswego, Carrie Busekist, CCE-Cattaraugus, Andy Turner, NYS 4-H, Joy Westercamp, Cornell University and 2023 National 4-H Collegiate Facilitator and I.

We had 8 delegates that represent Broome, Orange, Oswego, Rensselaer, Seneca, and Tioga counties that nailed their wicked problems identified by federal agency partners. Their presentations were stellar where they researched and added a youth perspective for the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Department of Education, etc. Our NYS delegates completed their community service at the U. S. National Arboretum and made their rounds on Capitol Hill talking about the Farm Bill and the deep importance of 4-H. Each of our delegates also made new life-giving friendships!

A special thanks to Anna Hertlein and Dianne Miller for ensuring our delegation had a fantastic time on Capitol Hill and for the delicious lunch!

Extended thanks to Carrie Busekist who was a chaperone, allergy specialist, scheduler, photographer, dancer, wrangler, and the best co-chaperone! Land Acknowledgement

Cornell University is located on the traditional homelands of the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' (the Cayuga Nation). The Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' are members of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, an alliance of six sovereign Nations with a historic and contemporary presence on this land. The Confederacy precedes the establishment of Cornell University, New York state, and the United States of America. We acknowledge the painful history of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' dispossession, and honor the ongoing connection of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' people, past and present, to these lands and waters.

This land acknowledgment has been reviewed and approved by the traditional Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' leadership. Learn more
