4-H Career Explorations Update: registration, scholarships, chaperones

ask37

We’re excited to see Career Explorations registrations coming in! We have 107 people registered from 26 counties and there are still spots available in all programs. Registration will be open until June 1 or programs fill.

Scholarship requests were due by May 1. We’ve sent notifications to each youth who has requested a scholarship and their 4-H Educator letting them know the status of their awards.

Also, a reminder that information about background checks and preparing chaperones for Career Explorations is on the event page under “Chaperones.” In addition to Cornell Cooperative Extension's volunteer policy procedures, volunteer chaperones at 4-H Career Explorations need to be cleared through Cornell University's Children and Youth Safety Policy. According to Cornell University's policy, all adult chaperones (staff and volunteers) need to have a background check and complete CRS 2101 – Protecting Children: Identifying and Reporting Sexual Misconduct course in CULearn (directions for accessing course). We'll be sharing more training and support resources for preparing to chaperone at Career Explorations soon.

As always, please contact Alexa with questions and feedback. Thank you!

Land Acknowledgement

Cornell University is located on the traditional homelands of the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' (the Cayuga Nation). The Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' are members of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, an alliance of six sovereign Nations with a historic and contemporary presence on this land. The Confederacy precedes the establishment of Cornell University, New York state, and the United States of America. We acknowledge the painful history of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' dispossession, and honor the ongoing connection of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' people, past and present, to these lands and waters.

This land acknowledgment has been reviewed and approved by the traditional Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' leadership. Learn more
