Hi All,

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying some of this nice weather….farmers are for sure.

I wanted to let you know that the online application for the NYS Junior DAIRY LEADER and Beginning Dairy Leader programs for the 2023-2024 classes are now open and live. Information about the program and online application can be found at https://cals.cornell.edu/pro-dairy/our-expertise/youth/junior-dairy-leader-program This is a yearlong program for youth 16 to 19 who have an interest in learning about the dairy industry and career options along with personal and professional development. The program year runs from September of 2023 until August 2024 with 7 to 8 programs that are anywhere from 2 to 8 days long. Applications are due June 30th.

The Beginning Dairy Leader is for youth who will be entering at least 10th grade in the fall up to a senior in high school and not graduating by this fall. Information and application can be found at https://cals.cornell.edu/pro-dairy/our-expertise/youth/beginning-dairy-leader-program Applications are due June 30th also but there is some flexibility for applications for this program. This program runs from November 2023 until June 2024 with 4 to 5 programs that are 1 to 2 days long.

If youth are age eligible they can apply for both programs for the same year but cannot participate in both in the same year.

Please pass this information along to your interested youth and reach out to me at djc27@cornell.edu if you have any questions.

Best
