Save the Date: Wild Edibles Training

We are excited to announce the 4-H Wild Edibles Educator Training for 2025! This training will equip you with the essential skills to become a NYS 4-H Wild Edibles Level 2 Instructor. Based on the New York’s Natural Resources 4-H Wild Edibles Curriculum, you will learn to identify plants, practice safe and responsible harvesting, and explore cooking techniques for wild edibles. Additionally, the training covers state regulations, risk management strategies for working with youth, and indigenous knowledge of wild plants.

This program provides a unique opportunity to connect with nature, promote environmental sustainability, and develop practical skills for both youth and adults. By learning to identify, harvest, prepare, and preserve local wild foods, you’ll empower your community to build food resilience and foster stronger ties. The training also honors cultural traditions, promotes intergenerational knowledge sharing, and deepens your understanding of local ecosystems and land stewardship. Save the date for this impactful opportunity!

We look forward to your participation!

Cornell University is located on the traditional homelands of the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' (the Cayuga Nation). The Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' are members of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, an alliance of six sovereign Nations with a historic and contemporary presence on this land. The Confederacy precedes the establishment of Cornell University, New York state, and the United States of America. We acknowledge the painful history of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' dispossession, and honor the ongoing connection of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' people, past and present, to these lands and waters.
